UK player confused by Powerball and Power Play

Question · Jamie ·

Powerball is both the game name and the red ball, then Power Play is the add-on. Took me longer than it should. Can someone explain the three bits of the ticket in normal words, including which prize the multiplier does not increase?

On a US ticket, Powerball is the game, the red Powerball is the sixth number, and Power Play is an optional $1 add-on. It multiplies non-jackpot prizes by the selected 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X or 10X value. Match 5 with Power Play is fixed at $2 million, and the jackpot itself is never multiplied.

UK Powerball sales began through The UK National Lottery on 21 July 2026, but only the jackpot is shared with the US game. UK lower-tier prizes and administration are separate, and UK jackpot winners receive the prize over 30 years without the US cash option. So do not apply a US Power Play chart to a UK ticket.
