What do Americans mean by multi-draw?

Question · Jamie ·

I first thought it meant several lines in one drawing. Looks like it can mean the same play entered for future drawings, but the number allowed depends where you buy. Is that the right understanding?

Multi-draw means entering the same play for several future drawings on one purchase. It is different from buying several lines for one drawing. For example, one Pick 3 line marked for seven consecutive evening draws is one number set carried across seven draw dates.

The maximum number of draws, available draw types, price and cancellation rules come from the lottery that sells the ticket. North Carolina currently allows up to seven consecutive Pick 3 day draws, seven evening draws or both, but that limit is only an example and should not be copied to Powerball or another state without checking its official rules.
