Illinois Lottery Confirms $1.04 Billion Powerball Jackpot Has Been Claimed
The winning ticket from the Aug. 12 drawing was sold at a Hy-Vee in Quincy.

The $1.04 billion Powerball jackpot won in Illinois in August has been claimed. The Illinois Lottery confirmed the claim in mid-September, and the winner chose the lump-sum cash payment rather than the annuity. The cash value of the jackpot was $450.5 million before taxes.
The winning ticket matched all six numbers in the Aug. 12, 2026 drawing: 4, 26, 66, 67 and 69, with Powerball 9. It was sold at the Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh at 310 N. 36th St. in Quincy, which receives a $500,000 bonus for selling it.
Other big winners that night
Four tickets matched all five white balls to win $1 million each, in Arizona, California, Florida and North Carolina. A ticket in Massachusetts won $2 million, because Power Play raises the second prize to $2 million.
Where it ranks
It was the eighth-largest Powerball jackpot ever and ended a run that started in May. The current jackpot run began after this win.
What this means for players
Powerball prizes are claimed in the state where the ticket was bought, under that state's rules. Illinois winners, for example, follow the Illinois Lottery's claim process even though the game is played nationwide.
