About Arizona (AZ) Lottery

The Arizona lottery started with a close majority of just 51% voters opting for a state run lottery in 1981.  The Arizona Lottery depends on the voters' decision every few years to be able to determine should the lottery games be allowed to continue its operation.

This game was started in 1984 by Arizona lottery and has sold more than $86.4 million worth of tickets in the first year itself. The Pick lottery draws are scheduled twice in a week, every Wednesday and Saturday. The jackpot starts at One million for a $1 ticket. The jackpot is roll over if a draw does not have any jackpot winners.

How do you collect lottery winnings in Arizona?

  • For prizes between $1-$599:

    All Arizona Lottery retailers accept prizes up to $100 and have the option to accept prizes up to $599.

  • For prizes above $600, follow the instructions below:

    Sign the back of your ticket

    Fill out a Winner Claim Form. This is available for download or you can pick it up at Phoenix or Tucson Arizona Lottery office

    Deliver your completed Winner Claim Form, your signed winning lottery ticket, and a valid photo ID to the Arizona Lottery offices in Phoenix or Tucson.

Mail-in Claim
  • For prizes between $1-$599:

    Completely and legibly fill out the back of your ticket. Send your signed winning lottery ticket to the mailing address below. Keep a copy of everything, including the ticket's front and back, for your records.

  • For prizes above $600:

    Send the following items to the mailing address below

    Send your signed winning lottery ticket

    Your completed Winner Claim Form, your signed winning lottery ticket, and a copy of your government-issued ID (which includes your mailing address and signature).

    For your records, keep a copy of everything, including the front and back of the ticket.

  • Mailing address: Arizona Lottery, Attention: Customer Service, PO Box 2913, Phoenix, AZ 85062-2913.

Before you mail in your claim, give the Lottery Office a call at 480-921-4400. This is to ensure that you are sending all the necessary documents for your claim. You should also allow about 2 weeks for the processing of mailed-in claims

Prizes up to $599 can be redeemed at all Arizona Lottery retailers. For prizes of $600 and above, you must go to the Arizona Lottery Office to claim your prize. Alternatively, you can claim your tickets by filling a claim form and sending it by mail to the Arizona Lottery Office. Drop boxes are also available at the Phoenix or Tucson lottery offices.
How long do winners have to redeem or claim their winning tickets?
All draw game tickets will become invalid after 180 days from the draw date. Fast Play game tickets, on the other hand, have an expiration time of 180 days from the date of purchase. A ticket cannot be redeemed once it has expired. Scratcher tickets will expire after 180 days from the game ending date. Your can check the official lottery website to see the Scratchers game-ending dates.
Does the Arizona Lottery withhold Federal and/or State income taxes?
Yes, the Arizona Lottery will deduct certain amounts to cover for federal and state income taxes. The tax rates are not the same for resident aliens and United States citizens. There would be no tax withholding if the lottery prize is below $600.
What happens if my winning ticket gets stolen, destroyed or missing?
Misplacing your lottery ticket is equivalent to losing money. In order to protect yourself and your ticket, sign the back of your ticket, fill in your contact, and keep it somewhere safe. Please keep in mind that the Arizona Lottery will not take any responsibility for damaged, stolen or lost lottery tickets.
