Explore the Options for Claiming a Lottery Prize in South Dakota

In-Person Claim

  • Prizes worth $1 - $100 can be claimed in person by going to the nearest lottery retailer in your area to redeem your signed winning ticket.

  • Winners have to go to the Lottery Office to redeem prizes of $101 and above.

  • You can also go to any of the Lottery's validation centers in Sioux Falls, Rapid City or Pierre to claim prizes worth $101 or more in person.

  • Additionally, prize claims for any jackpot-winning ticket for Lotto America or Dakota Cash, or the second prizes for Mega Millions and Powerball; or top prize-winning ticket for the Lucky for Life game must be submitted in person at a South Dakota Lottery office.

  • Prize claims for Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot-winning ticket must be submitted in person at the South Dakota Lottery office in Pierre.

Mail-in Claim

  • You can mail your claim for prizes of $1 - $100 by filling out the back of your winning ticket, signing it, and then mailing it to the postal address of the South Dakota Lottery Commission.

  • You can also use the mail claim option for prizes of $101 upwards. All you have to go is:

  • 1. Complete the fields on the back of your ticket and put your signature

  • 2. Complete a Winner Claim Form D you can get one at any authorized State Lottery retailer). Alternatively, you can fill the online Winner Claim Form and then download it. Be sure to sign and date it after printing.
  • 3. Send the filled claim form along with your winning ticket to the South Dakota Lottery mailing address.
