About New Hampshire (NH) Lottery

It is true that New Hampshire Lottery is the oldest legal lottery in the history of United States. Larry Pickett of Keene was the man behind the idea of introducing the New Hampshire Lottery into the States. Larry Pickett was a State representative who continuously made an effort from the year 1953-1963 to propose a Sweepstakes bill. Pickett saw sweepstakes as a feasible and self-chosen way to raise funds for the purpose of education. It was finally in the year 1963 that Pickett succeeded in getting the bill passed by John King – the Governor at that time. After winning the majority of the vote in favor of starting the lottery through a special ballot, the New Hampshire Lottery actually came into existence. It was on March 12, 1964, that the first lottery tickets were sold as an attempt to use the profits for New Hampshire schools.

THE JOURNEY OF THE NEW HAMPSHIRE LOTTERY: FROM THEN TO NOW –

Nh lottery has gone through many changes since its inception. Earlier the lottery only offered one type of ticket that cost $3 for a number of scratch and lotto games. As far as the sales are concerned, there has been a dramatic rise in them too. From $5.7 million sales in the year 1964, the sales went up to $307 million in the year 2016. Despite the changes in lottery tickets and sales, one thing that has remained unchanged in the NH lottery is the benefit that it has done for the state. All the funds collected through the New Hampshire lottery have been going to serve the purpose of public education. Moreover, since all these years, NH lottery has successfully managed to entertain all its players through its amazing games like NH Powerball and NH Megabucks that have made people winners.
