About North Carolina (NC) Lottery

After the establishment of North Carolina State Lottery Act by then Governor, Mike Easley, North Carolina Education Lottery, which is also shortly known as NCEL has been inaugurated. It is one of the youngest Lotteries in the United States, being enacted in 2005. The North Carolina State Lottery Act has appointed a Lottery Commission which consists of nine members, who are responsible for the conduction of all operations regarding this Education Lottery. Each and every penny of the NC lottery goes directly to the state’s education. Since its inception, the North Carolina Lottery has generated a whopping amount of 5.5 dollars in revenue. 

According to the law, all the revenue funds are contributed to the salary payments of teachers for k-3 grades, construction of schools, need-based financial aid to colleges, and pre-kindergarten. The state Lottery act of North Carolina plans and executes the usage of the revenue for educational purposes. The North Carolina lottery has been contributing a substantial amount of money to various educational causes. The NC lottery stands for integrity and honesty in all their business operations. Seven percent of the proceeds are paid to the retailers in the form of commissions. Fifty percent of the revenue is paid to the players who pick the right NC lottery winning numbers. Eight percent goes as the cost of sales and the remaining thirty-five percent goes to the educational purposes and welfare.

Pick 3 Evening: Being introduced on October 6th 2006, Pick 3 evening is drawn every day. This game involves the drawing of three balls, which are numbered from 0 to 9. Players have to purchase the game with 50 cents. An alternative model is to pay $1 which consists of two options that are Exact wager and Any wager. 

Hot Lotto: This lottery game costs $1 per each game. The players need to select five numbers from a pool of 1 to 47 and one number from a pool of 1 to 19. 

Lotto America: This lottery game is drawn twice a week, each on every Wednesday and Sunday. A player should choose five balls from a set of 1 to 52 numbers and one ball from a set of 1 to 10. 

Mega Millions: On January 31st, 2010, Mega millions has become a part of the game collection at North Carolina Education Lottery. This game is drawn every Tuesday and Friday at 11 pm. 

Powerball: Being introduced on May 31st, 2006, Powerball has become one of the crowd favorites at the North Carolina Lottery. Players must select numbers from two pools, the first pool involves the picking of 5 North Carolina Winning numbers ranging from 1 to 69, whereas the second pools involves the picking of red powerball with a number ranging from 1 to 26.

How do you collect lottery winnings in North Carolina ?

You have 90 days from the formally stated end of the game for instant scratch-off games. The ticket must be received by the NC Lottery within 90 days if it is mailed. Postmarks will not enough to meet this condition. Draw games have a 180-day redemption period following the drawing for which the ticket was purchased.
What are the chances of winning a prize in the Lottery?
On the back of each instant scratch-off ticket indicate the odds of winning, which vary depending on the game. What does "Overall odds" mean?
The average number of winning tickets every game is provided by overall odds.
